Signature of your Council on International Programs (CIP) Representative or area supervisor

Projects submitted by a faculty member must be endorsed by the CIP member representing his/her College. A list of CIP representatives can be found at http://www.cip.studyabroad.iastate.edu/who.html.
Projects submitted by Professional and Scientific (P&S) staff members must be endorsed by the area supervisor.

Departmental Contribution

Priority will be given to those projects where cost sharing is provided. If cost sharing is not available, please indicate other types of departmental contributions to the project, if any.

What to Submit

Your proposal must include:

1. Completed Cover Page available here

2. Project Description,  using the following headings:

  • Project summary
  • Goals of the project
  • Evidence of the need for the project
  • Anticipated benefits resulting from the project (to the student participants, the institution, the community, etc.)
  • Tentative project calendar
  • Number of individuals to be reached by the project (students, faculty, staff, community members, etc.)
  • Your plans to determine whether the goals of the project were met
  • If applicable, materials to be developed as a result of the project
  • Cost sharing or other departmental contributions to the project

3. Project Budget available here

Please provide a table (see sample below) listing:

  • Names and number of international students and/or U.S. students to be hired
  • Number of hours each student will work per week
  • Total number of weeks they will work
  • Total number of hours they will work
  • Hourly pay rate for each student (minimum $7.25 and maximum $10.00, please provide reasons if you plan to pay the students higher than $8.00 an hour.)
  • Total budget requested

Please note we may cap funding approval at $2,500 per student for the 2019-2020 academic year (Fall 19 and Spring 20) if demand for funds warrants a cap. An additional $1,500 per student would be allowed for Summer semesters (months before and after the academic year, i.e. July-August 2019 and May-June 2020) if the cap is put in place.

Requests to fund overhead expenses, contingency items, refreshments, entertainment, travel, fundraising, the production of fliers and brochures, and other "miscellaneous" expenditures cannot be approved.

Please remember that funds are to be used to hire eligible undergraduate students only and must be spent by June 30, 2020 (any unused funds will be returned to ISSO). Approved funds are available to use from July 1, 2019.
