Student Appointments
Instructions
ISSO uses the appointment system Navigate. The Navigate system only allows for appointments to be scheduled with your assigned International Student Advisor. Please follow the link below, based on your college or major, to schedule an appointment:
- College of Agriculture and Life Sciences
- College of Design
- College of Engineering, Depts: Computer, Electrical, Mechanical, and Software
- College of Engineering, Depts: Aerospace, Ag and Biosystems, Civil, Chemical, Industrial, Materials Science
- College of Health and Human Sciences
- College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, ONLY Department of Computer Science (AI, CS)
- College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, Departments Other Than Computer Science
- College of Veterinary Medicine
- Graduate College (Interdepartmental/Interdisciplinary Majors)
- Ivy College of Business
Appointment Meeting Options
ISSO advisors offer three meeting options:
- In-person: Please check-in at the ISSO front desk (4th floor, Memorial Union) at the time of your appointment
- Zoom: A virtual meeting link will be contained in your appointment confirmation email
- Phone: If you prefer a phone appointment, please call 515-294-1120 at the time of your appointment
Appointment Availability
- Appointments must be scheduled a minimum 2 hours in advance.
- Appointments can be scheduled up to 7 days in advance.
Incoming Students
Incoming students are able to schedule an appointment in Navigate once their NetID (email) is activated. Please see these instructions (See "Account Set Up I: Your Net-ID" tab) on how to activate your NetID. After activating your Net-ID, please allow one business day before scheduling an appointment in Navigate.
Late Arrivals
Students who arrive more than 10 minutes late will need to reschedule their appointment.
Tax Questions
International Student Advisors cannot advise on taxes. Please review this tax resource or visit the College of Business Vitatax for tax support.
Questions
If you experience difficulties scheduling your appointment through Navigate, please follow these more detailed instructions. Anyone who does not have access to Navigate can email isso@iastate.edu or call 515-294-1120 during normal business hours to schedule an appointment with their assigned International Student Advisor.
ISSO Quick Advising
ISSO offers quick advising hours daily. These are designed for quick questions (5 minutes or fewer). If your questions will take longer than 5 minutes, you are encouraged to schedule a designated appointment time.

1:00 - 3:00 PM
Instructions:
- Call 515-294-1120 or check-in at the ISSO front desk (4th floor, Memorial Union) to speak with an International Student Advisor.
- Advisors rotate quick advising hours. You will speak to the assigned advisor.
- Quick advising is first-come, first-served. Depending on demand, there may be a significant wait time. To avoid a wait, you are strongly encouraged to schedule a designated appointment time with your assigned advisor.
International Scholar and Employee Appointments
Advising appointments for scholars (international non-students) or their dependents can be made by emailing issoscholar@iastate.edu.
